As someone who uses a wheelchair: I'd rather have no representation than wrong representation. People with a disability are too often portrayed as pity cases. They only exist to make the hero look good, or to make the viewer feel happy that they don't have a disability. Then there are loads of films and series out there where people with a disability want to commit suicide. And there's the complete opposite: putting people on a pedestal because they have a disability. Suddenly every normal thing that they do is worthy of cheer and praise. That is really degrading, as if people with a disability are little children. All these things just set people apart. Looking down on people creates distance, but elevating people does the same. It's equal treatment that people with a disability want most of all. I like the character of Geordie LaForge a lot: he's a valued colleague and a great engineer, and he just happens to have a disability. Does the crew have to babysit him? No.

Don't mind watching an entirely black movie either if it fits the context. Imagine how annoying it would be if they had to cast a bunch of white people in the straight outta Compton movie just becuase? Or if they made a movie about African folk lore or Zulu warriors and the cast had to be half white? Or if Aladdin was cast as a blonde dude? IT FEELS FORCED. And politically motivated diversify where it makes no sense. It's not they "hating seeing black people on tv" like you want to make it out to be. Thered been plenty of loved black characters in movies for decades.

The presence of minorities in movies is to increase their exposition and decrease the fear due ignorance. It doesn't matter if they are black, asian, disabled, women in positions of power or latinos. Watching different people on the screen reduces the fear they generate due ignorance.

only white people complaining are the ones over 20 who arent even the target audience anymore. The days of an all white cast are over. stop crying about it no amount of boycott will change anything lmfao

Sweet but incorrect. Studies in the US have shown that minorities are less likely to watch series and movies in which they are not represented. Which study you ask? I don't know exactly cause I just made that up, the point still stands

it´s so annoying that these politics does need to have a role. have you looked up the cast of "amsterdam". so forced, to have a black role. for me it´s another facette of racism because: if the cast is only white, it is now valuebale enough. what´s wrong with only white cast sometimes?

That's not very true. The lack of black people in movies just show how racists the movie creators are. We need to be more progressive now more than ever, it's 2022!

You should take the black dudes lead and not give a fuck about the race of actors op.

It's tokenism. That's why for the longest time it was only black actors, because they were the only ones whining about it. Now they've figured they also need token Asians, sometimes. No such "luck" for Latinos yet though. Next they'll hopefully realise that you can't possibly have every possible ethnicity "rEpReSenTeD".

Morgan Freeman literally played God, i think we’re ok.

All white casts aren't gonna happen anymore. Just gonna have to suck it up, buttercup

Talking about racism keeps it Alive. Talking to people about your day keeps your day alive

An excellent melanin heavy respondent. What shall we call this stoic representative?

I just wish they'd use black stories. Feels kind of insulting and cheap to me when they just redo skin colour... There are so many wonderful black stories yet to be told, however they're to lazy to write a script and would rather recast skin. :!
