In a soviet prison, two inmates are talking to each other.
"What did they arrest you for?" asks the first. "Was it a political or common crime?"
- "Of course it was political. I'm a plumber", says the other "They summoned me to the district Party committee to fix the sewage pipes. I looked and said, 'Hey, the entire system needs to be replaced.' So they gave me seven years."
this is over 100 year old joke, but instead of finnish soldiers it was about czechoslovak legions who almost conquered russia and almost got to save Nicolaus II if they conquered Yekaterinburg a week sooner.
The reality was that finland was on the edge of a collapsing frontline...if Stalin had known and pushed a week more they might have had to surrender.
But other than Ukraine today, they had barely external support, so hats off to them for fighting with their backs to the wall.
On the Soviet front, a sergeant to Vanya:
- See Vania if the tanks are coming.
Vanya is back.
- Report, Sergeant, that the tanks are on the way.
- Here's a grenade, go get the tanks.
After half an hour, Vanya returns and the sergeant asks:
- Shattered the tanks?
- Chased and destroyed.
- Then give back the grenade.
