ITER is amazing. Fusion enegry will change our civilization forever. I bet easy space travel will happen them, since there will be an overwhelming amoung of usable energy.
I hope it works. Better yet I hope we can get it to work without helium3 that way it will become the awesome source of clean energy it was promised to be

if what I see are women working manual labor, I am all for that. But when I see those women in white hard hards, the line has to be drawn.
It won't work. Their objective is to achieve Q factor of 5 (i.e. for every 1 unit of energy injected into the reactor, 5 come out). No one has even achieved a breakeven Q factor of 1 yet. The best result ever is 0.70 (i.e. overall loss of energy) at the National Ignition Facility. Compare that to a standard nuclear reactor, where the Q factor is over 100.
