In a way, it does. You don't really know what kind of a person you are, until you find yourself in a position of power. As in, if you don't have power, you have limits on how much you can abuse and extort others.
Simply said, when you get power, your ability to cause harm, even indirectly/involuntarily, increases. Thus, you've gotta be more responsible with your actions and decisions.
Obviously, because as it is explained in the last trilogy "When you can do the things that I can, but you don’t, and then the bad things happen, they happen because of you."
Yes it's just another way of phrasing it, but I like it that way
