This is why they try to separate gender and sex, which used to be synonymous.
Gender is now akin to sexual preference. When 2000 years pass and they dig up your bones they can say what your sex is (male or female) but will have no idea about if you liked it in your ass, if you were into thick thighs, or if you were an asexual trans-fox.
Truth is gender definition for an archaeologist is pure anthropology. You use the bones since u rarely have anything else to determine the sex. Hip bones, cranium are most valid. But what if someone took sexual hormones and their body developped differently, you can't say that anymore. Some parts may come out as hard to determine or others as male and pthers as female. It's really hard to say if it was a man or a woman.
It's easy if it was a woman with high estrogen levels or a male with very high testosterone. Their bones will look prototypical.
It's basic biology. I'm not sure if gender affirmation processes have figured out how to make changes to the skeletal structure yet. Plus, my Ancient History teacher (she's a pretty cool woman who actually worked on the Indus Valley Civilization excavations a few years ago) confirmed what this guy just said. When a skeleton is dug up, you check the pelvic bone. That determines whether the person was biologically male or female.
