And the best part was when you put a brand new LP gently on the player, slightly moved the needle to the edge and let the smooth sound fill the room, your earholes and your brain.
also, it is not some kind of nostalgia, but kids today do not know how good sound sounds.
Cheap sound systems only reproduce up to 20khz or 40khz, people think this is enough, well it is not. You do not hear 40khz, but you hear its harmonics.
Also when you are playing a LP the sound it produces bounces back from he room to the needle, creating new sounds, this is a really good effect.
You can see how home sound system quality is downgrading by the amount of focus new sound system, those avaible in market gives to strong bass. To rap music and similar it is nice, it makes you feel the bass, but music is a lot more than bass.
I do not even care to talk bad of digital systems, I do not think they are bad, or you lost wave form, it is not different to hear a CD from a AB class or a good D class. The same quality, more efficiency. The problem is that sounds systems, specially speakers are not even well balanced any more.
man, just some years early, like 5 to 10 and you would get my upvote.
most of those 90s used ic's to control everything, from audio to display. Those are really good sound systems, the problem is that those ic's does not exist any more.
kenwood, RCA, aiwa was the top brands, only avaible if you travel and bring those pieces of equipaments. Importations was forbidden for long periods here to protect the national industry.
Here, we had gradient, sharp, philco, all clones of those brands, some even improved it a little.
That right there is a kenwood ka 3020 amplifier it produces 30W per channel on 8omhs.
Which isn't a lot but for a bookstand speaker its ok. At the same time, you could have bought a 9010 model of 100w per channel on the same 8omhs. Good times, you can still buy them on second-hand shops and they work like a charm need a little maintenance but
Yamaha amplifier have it for 15 years still no problems, same for 5.1 Pioneer speakers with active sub. Best investment ever! Also my Gorenje fridge. That's it, all other things died :-)
