In connection with an arrest made last summer in which another officer gave the go-ahead to pepper-spray a father who was recording his son’s traffic stop, Blake Shimanek has been charged with official oppression. Blake was charged by a grand jury in Tarrant County on Friday. The victim was unlawfully arrested and mistreated on purpose, the indictment claims. The public expressed its disapproval of the situation. Brad Fortune, the chief of Keller police, said it “brought significant disappointment and remorse.” Brad apologized for the circumstance. Shimanek received a promotion following an internal probe. He left the police department in February. Officials claimed that the officer who pepper-sprayed the father was just following orders, thus he was not prosecuted. In addition to losing his job as a result of this occurrence, Blake also received harsh criticism. Shimanek was found guilty when bodycam video was made public.

I absolutely do not understand why both of these people got arrested. Policemen were just bullies for no apparent reason.
