We need context. Since developing nations tend to usually favor the defender due to police usually being useless.
In my shithole country, mugging can be deadly for the criminal if caught by civilians. They WILL beat you up to death, to the point it's the police that must save them.
So this case really need some context
Recap of the situation. D (the victim) was looking for someone so he damaged the door of a house where Lam (the jailed dude) was in. D left after he was told the person he was looking for isn't there. Lam then reported to police because the door was damaged.
D (the victim) wasn't happy that Lam told the police, so came to the house again with a hammer trying to start shit. But he brought a hammer to a knife fight where Lam actually brought a knife and attacked him viciously (and won obv).
