Nice, it just uses as much electricity as an entire city. Now leaving the joke aside, seems like people here dont get it. Working with any metal requiers a lot of energy/heat. There will not be a "completely green" way of doing so. You should be more than happy that everyone is trying their best to provide with infrastructure, work, food and the rest of facilities for everyone. Stop being little bitches.

It's like a big fuck off stick welder

That doesn't look green at all but hey, why not

Thunderbolts and lightning, very, very frightening me !

Ah the good ol Lichtbogenschmelzofen
14/09/22
It's exactly what you think of, two ridiculously big electrodes and they turn the power on and they leave it on until it's melted. There's several purity and ease of process related aspects which make it better than fossil fuel steel, however it's a lot more expensive.

is this a Rammstein concert?

MMM metal vapors, very healthy ,

Electricity can at least be green compared to just using coke in a smelting furnace.

Let's be realistic. The greenest we can go is to go full Nuke energy. The rest is waste and BS.

Can I please touch the Lichtbogen?
14/09/22
We do that too. The electricity used amounts to an insane bill. However it is considered green, as steel is extremely recyclable. The electric process turns scrap steel into viable new product.

Steel factories look like hell on earth to me
