Becoming friends with coworkers/classmates is the exception not the rule. After all, you didn't pick any of your coworkers or classmates. Also being friends with people takes effort and is always uncomfortable at first.

I'm friendly only with other blue collar people. Mechanics, electricans, welders. I won't even try to talk to people who can't even do basic shit with basic tools. Not asking you to be an engineer, just don't call electrican to change a lightbulb, don't call handyman to put a nail in the wall for a painting. Be a man, do it yourself.
