Unfortunately some Christians and even someone that reads the Bible interprets the days as a 24hrs day, GOD is not bound to Kronos (24hr day) he’s on Kairos. People just assume it’s a 24hr because that’s what we know. Between Genesis chapter 1 verse 1 and 2 there’s a gap that human cannot comprehend and when we just assume things the Bible don’t say we make it worse. I don’t know if also noticed that GOD created the light first then He created the Sun. My suggestion for you is, don’t sweat over it, if the Bible doesn’t explain clearly something it’s better to leave it alone.
A day can also be determine by the earth doing a complete turn on itself, so the sun is not important. But, the earth was created on the third day, so the question kind of stay the same. Also, the evening and morning were created on the 2nd day, so 2 days before the Sun. THIS is fucked up
I know its a meme, but i hope people realize those are metaphors in bible, that's why church accept the theory o evolution and why God isn't standing near each child in hospital giving them cancer as some atheists would like to claim.
this is the level of reasoning I expect from most arguments.
For those who don't know, 'Yom' is the Hebrew word for "day," but has numerous other translations (think of the many ways the word 'day' gets used in English). Hebrew was a small language and had to be creative with it's words. Yom was sometimes used to mean "year," "age," or even just a general term for "a period of time"
All knowing God doesn't need a sun and earth to know its the fourth day. From God's perspective, that fourth day could be day 500 Billion. The concepts we have of maths, time, gravity are based on how God made it. From a human perspective, it doesn't make sense. Colours...think of a new colour. God did and now humans now them all. I believe it was Moses who wrote Genesis who was told by God.
The simplest explanation would be that God has already decided what a day was. He then created the rotation of the earth round the sun to match that timeframe
Time goes to exist before everything else was. Maybe even God.
Time always there, tickling, counting the moment until it doesn't needed anymore. Then everything goes to freeze
