Far Cry 3 and 4, Dishonored serie, Metro serie, Stalker serie, Max Pain serie, Half life serie. Some are old some are still good loking sommes not but all have very good story lines. Saw Bioshok serie already in comment, also great story indeed.

go to youtube. you want fps then search for top 10 fps games. or google a year + pc games to see which are the most relevant games during that year. or go to steam, click for the tag you want to play then look for top selling.
