It's working, you just don't see the result. Uploader of the video still can see the numbers. Use Return Dislikes extension. It's only an extrapolation from extension users statistics but it's fairly accurate

Feedback for the channel. Dislikes show up on the Youtubers page and it also effects the algorithms so YouTube is less likely to suggest the video when it has dislikes.

LIKE and DISLIKE buttons are the same; they count as interaction. No difference if you click one or another. Its a scam to get you interact so they can push the videos that has more interactions with the audience. Dont like or dislike. Dont comment.

There should be an option for the content creators to enable or disable the like/dislike count just like the comments. The woke can turn it off.. The once not scared of getting disliked can keep it on.
