Because he sells the generic versions of the drugs, not the branded drugs themselves.
That’s actually one of the most important reasons why costs in US were so high. In US patents can be extended if small modifications to drugs are made meaning patents that are supposed to last few decades can last much longer.
Second historically FDA was very reluctant to approve alternatives that are even just marginally and practically insignificantly worse then patented product.
If only there was some kind of system one could employ.
Like you pay a monthly fee or something. And if you get leukemia some entity of some sort would cover your health care costs.
Like an insurance or something.
When I was a college student 10 years ago, costs for developing a new drug from scratch in a short trajectory (5-10 years) was estimated to be $800,000,000 USD; and is suppose it’ll only have increased; and that’s what you pay for. Mark Cuban isn’t developing new drugs: he takes existing drugs and finds cheaper ways to produce them. It’s obviously a good thing, but you can’t compare the two situations.
