My Grandpa always made squared bread (not toast) and coffee.
Only thinking about that reminds me on that smell.
It wasn't a good smell at all, the bread always smelled slightly burned but damn, it reminds me of my childhood.
Also the smell of coffee and fresh bread rolls...
Damn there are many smells with coffee in my childhood.
I had this one fruit tree in my neighborhood when I was around 4 years old. The fruits tasted sweet and fragrant. The tree itself was a no more than two meters tall. Rather shorter.
We moved away when I was 5 and I've been looking for this taste for over 30 years.
I once found a jam sandwich with this taste when i was a teen, but it didn't have packaging around it, and we bought it from a vendor and I ate the sandwich on the plane.
the neighborhood has been torn down.
The fruit looked like a peach in size and shape... but was pure white and soft. It had the skin of a prune. And it's not the ginseng fruit... although the ginseng fruit has been the closest taste wise. But the fruit flesh was of a different consistency.
*sigh... it's been bugging me for so long.
Your grandparents home usually triggers nostalgic moment like that.
I still cannot replicate the taste of instant noodle my grandmother made for me...a god damn instant noodle.
My biology teacher used a specific type of perfume
I only smelled it in a perfume shop in France, 22 years later
They said that type hasn't been manufactured in 50 years and now it made a comeback
Odors do stay in our brain after all
I often smell a nostalgic smell like cheap perfume or erasers that people got into bloody fights for
I'm glad you only experience childhood and teenage once
