There are LOTS of games that focus on gameplay. Actually, nearly all games that are not from AAA publishers are focused on gameplay. But of course, you wouldn't know this because you only play AAA games with their microtransactions because those are the games your friends are playing.

Because idiots look at stylized games and say "looks like fortnite for kids". Look at the recent Gta6 leaks. I've seen people say it looks bad. It still looks good for a 2019 build of a game that won't be out for a couple years.

Why? Graphics is easy and story is hard and you twats are paying anyway because of FOMO and fear of not belonging to the group. There's no incentive for the game industry to get better and until they get that incentive they won't change. You should be smarter about your purchases, pirate more.

I'm a Sr Technical Artist working for a huge AAA studio. and I can't stress enough how much I agree with this. They waste so much time and resources trying to look as cinematic as possible when they could be using them on making better game... Worst part is that they make the game thinking on the highest of highest end PCs and consoles, and everyone else (which is probably most people) gets a shit deal, because we don't spend nearly as much time making the game looks good on mid or low end. And if it weren't for the Cyberpunk 2077 shit-show on PS4 and XBO this studio would have most likely had done the same thing. But ended up hiring a satellite studio to handle the look and optimization of old-gen consoles. Where they do amazing solutions such as making the player literally run slower so it doesn't have to stream things as fast, lol
